Credentials
Professor Christopher Bentley is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Central Middlesex Hospital London. He is also consultant paediatric ophthalmologist to Imperial College Healthcare based at St Mary’s Hospital Paddington and is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at the Western Eye Hospital.
He was previously a Fellow in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Moorfields Eye Hospital and a Fellow in Paediatric Ophthalmology at Great Ormond Street Hospital London.
Christopher Bentley is currently involved in regular surgery for adult and paediatric cataract, adult and paediatric squint (with adjustable sutures) and all aspects of Botulinum Toxin treatment. He is a member of The Royal College of the Ophthalmologists Microsurgical Skills and Paediatric Ophthalmology HST Faculties. He is a Vice-President of the Ophthalmology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.
He initiated a National Diploma Course (PGDipOphth) at Middlesex University, the special interest being ophthalmology training for GPSIs / Nurse Practitioners / Optometrists / Orthoptists. He acts as a personal mentor to local GPs and Optometrists taking this course.
Professor Bentley also acts as an examiner to various bodies including The City University, Imperial College London, Middlesex University, and the British College of Optometrists. He has published widely on many aspects of ophthalmology, squint and cataract treatment.
